Abstract
Se comentan dos de los tres sonetos de Dante Alighieri que tradujo el poeta romántico peruano Clemente Althaus (1835-1881). Para poderlos evaluar, se los contrasta con los originales. El artículo señala, primero, los rasgos esenciales de los sonetos de Dante y, luego, lo que más llama la atención de las versiones de Althaus. Sin resultar traducciones perfectas, se concluye que Althaus presenta, en términos generales, versiones correctas y respetuosas. El sentido se retiene, aunque pueda ocurrir que, en algún caso, no se traduzca el significado (un verso inexistente en el original, por ejemplo).
