Abstract

The main objective of this article is to analyze the ornithological competence of César Vallejo's poetic work. The poet's treatment of birds is useful to understand the singularity of his poetics and the meaning that this particular presence of birds brings. To do so, we will try to point out this intertwining and analyze the scope of the connections between both elements. Thus, from its links with tradition and territory to the uniqueness of the construction of his proposal, we will see how birds take on special prominence. In addition, this approach brings the possibility of understanding poetry from a social position related to ecology.

Pablo López Carballo, Universidad Complutense de Madrid

Es doctor por la Universidad de Salamanca. Completó su formación predoctoral en dicha casa de estudios, en la Universidad de Granada y en la Universitá degli Studi di Siena, en las que cursó estudios de Filología Hispánica y Teoría de la Literatura y Literatura Comparada. Es profesor del área de Literatura Hispanoamericana de la Universidad Complutense de Madrid. Ha trabajado en Duke University, en Colby College y en la Universidad Internacional de La Rioja. Participa en los proyectos de investigación «Poesía, propaganda y publicidad (siglos xx-xxi): del discurso persuasivo al efecto estético» y «Biodiversidad poética. Representación de las aves y competencia ornitológica en la poesía latinoamericana».
